BornFree gets a mention in Now Magazine!

This week’s issue of Now Magazine has a fab interview with the lovely Denise Van Outen. In it she models her new DVO Maternity range with very.co.uk and talks about her pregnancy and future plans.

We were excited to see that BornFree gets a special mention too

Glad you like our products Denise, and we hope ‘Shakira’ will like them too.

BPA is front page news at last!

We are delighted to see that the BPA issue has finally made front page news in the British press today!

The Independent has featured an article by Consumer Affairs Correspondent, Martin Hickman, which names and shames some of the biggest UK retailers and baby bottle producers who continue to supply products containing the harmful toxin BPA.

The article includes this statement made by a BornFree spokesperson:

We believe that BPA has been one of the most studied chemicals for decades for a reason. Recent scientific research suggests that small amounts of BPA may leach into foods or beverages stored in polycarbonate containers, especially when the contents are acidic, high in fat, or heated. Research also suggests that BPA may act as an endocrine disruptor, a substance which mimics natural human hormones, and that babies and growing children are particularly at risk from exposure because they are still undergoing many hormone-mediated developmental processes.

We believe that the use of BPA in baby-feeding products should be banned in its entirety. It is for this reason that our entire product portfolio has always been and always will be free from harmful chemicals such as BPA.

It really is time that this issue was brought to the UK public; the article tells us how we are lagging behind when it comes to taking government action

Canada and three US states, Connecticut, Minnesota and Wisconsin, have banned BPA in baby bottles and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says it is concerned about its impact on babies and young children, and supports its removal from infant-feeding products.

We are looking forward to seeing more coverage of Bisephenol-A in tomorrow’s Independent.

Update: Thursday 1st April

The Independent has followed up with more on BPA today. This time the main feature is about how a worrying amount of our favourite family food is contained in tin cans lined with BPA.

Celebrities love BornFree!

We are very pleased to announce that we’ve just had this wonderful testimonial from TV and musical theatre star, Denise Van Outen. Denise is expecting her first child in May this year and says:

Every new mother wants the best for her baby. That’s why I’m sticking with BornFree products. I’ve done a lot of research and they came out on top every time.

How fabulous! Thanks Denise, enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

Dads love BornFree!

Being a new parent is hard work! But it’s a lot easier when it’s approached as a team effort. In the early days, the onus is on the new mummy but there are plenty of ways a partner can contribute and support : night feeds, nappy changes, looking after siblings, cooking, cleaning, foot massages…….I could go on.

In my work as social network coordinator I hear a lot about ‘hands on Dads’ and I’m very pleased to be able to post this  lovely feedback from new Dad Ben Mynott, who clearly has his wife and baby’s best interests at heart:

This is the truth… we started Toby on the bottle just over a week ago so I could do one of the night feeds (so Vick can get some well-earned shut eye!) – and the first 3-4 night we gave him the milk in the Philips avent bottles. NO! They just gave him wind! Poor little thing was in bits. We then bought some Philips Airflow bottles… better… but the only ones he’ll take without any fuss, are the BornFree ones – he just seems to love them. Last couple of nights he’s been a star, fed and then gone straight back to sleep. So thank you so much

Great news Ben, glad we could help too!

BornFree featured in April’s Practical Parenting!

As a mum I love reading parenting magazines, they offer so much to a new (and not so new) mum. From how to conceive, all the way to dealing with toddler tantrums and beyond, the expertise is offered with warmth and friendliness.

From health tips to accessorising your bump, parenting magazines can offer that extra bit of support and reassurance almost like a friend or family member, and for me  it’s so exciting to see my favourite BPA-Free baby bottle company, BornFree, appearing in one of them.

The April issue of  Practical Parenting has a great feature called’ ‘Star Mums’  and this month’s theme is ‘Shop Like the Stars’. There is a fabulous picture of the style icon Gwen Stefani and her beautiful baby boy Zuma sporting a BornFree BPA-Free baby bottle.

How cool is that! Not only are we the first baby bottle company to never ever use BPA in our products but we are the bottle of choice for the beautiful people too. Swoon!
